Di-(2-propylheptyl)phthalat (DPHP) wird als Weichmacher vor allem in Polymeren wie PVC verwendet. Aufgrund analytischer Schwierigkeiten im Rahmen einer Gesamtphthalatbestimmung wird DPHP über eine spezifische Methode bestimmt.

Die Umweltprobenbank untersucht in Humanproben nicht den Ausgangsstoff DPHP, sondern dessen Hauptabbauprodukte.
