Abstract

The anion perchlorate was analyzed in 10 plant, 9 soil and 24 precipitation samples. The broadleaf samples (5 exemplars), spruce needle samples (5 exemplars) and soil samples were provided by the German Environmental Specimen Bank as deep frozen original material. Sampling of plants was carried out between 2011 and 2013, sampling of soil was performed in 2010. Precipitation samples were delivered from the air monitoring network of the German Federal Environment Agency and collected between early September until mid-November in 2013.
The analytical method based upon high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) in connection with triple quadrupole mass spectroscopy (MS-MS). Concentrations of perchlorate in precipitation water were below the limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.1 µg/l. Concentrations in soil were between 0.1 and 1.0 µg/kg original matter (mean 0.4 µg/kg) and in plants between 0.8 and 12 µg/kg original matter (mean 4.4 µg/kg).
