Starting in January 2012: On behalf of the German Environment Agency (UBA) Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT has been carrying out  the following tasks in the field of human samples: sampling, anamnesis, storage of human specimens, analysis of clinical-chemical parameters of human specimens according, definition/update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for human matrices, and reporting and assessment.

Fraunhofer Institute Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME

On behalf of the German Environment Agency (UBA) the Fraunhofer Institute Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology IME carries out the following tasks: storage and preparation of environmental specimens, soil sampling, inorganic analysis of environmental specimens and since 2018 the analysis of per- and polyfluoroalkyl compounds and hexabromocyclododecane according to the ESB concept, definition/update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for inorganic analysis of environmental specimens, soil, transport, preparation and storage, reporting and assessment.

IESB International Environmental Specimen Bank Group

The International Environmental Specimen Bank Group (IESB) promotes the world-wide development of techniques and strategies of environmental specimen banking. IESB is devoted to both, established Environmental Specimen Banks (ESBs) and new ESBs in the planning stages.

Authorities

Joint Substance Data Pool of the German Federal Government and the German Federal States (GSBL)

GSBL provides a catalogue with a wide range of attributes of chemical substances. It contains data and information on physical and chemical properties, toxicological and ecotoxicological parameters, descriptions of environmental hazards, dangers to health, fire and other technical hazards, and information on substance-related contents of relevant legislation.

On behalf of the German Environment Agency (UBA) the University of Trier carries out the following tasks: sampling of environmental specimens, biometric characterisation of environmental specimens, selection and documentation of the sampling areas, sub-areas and sampling sites, definition/update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for sampling, reporting and assessment.

Universitätsklinikum Münster (UKM) Umweltprobenbank des Bundes - Teilbank Humanproben und Datenbank

From 1980 to 2011 the UKM, on behalf of the German Environment Agency (UBA), carried out  the following tasks in the field of human samples: sampling, anamnesis, preparation and storage of human specimens, analysis of human specimens according to the ESB concept, definition/update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for human matrices, reporting and assessment, management of the information system.

Since 2016 the BfG, on behalf of the German Environment Agency (UBA), has been carrying out the following tasks: sampling of suspended matter, definition/update of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), reporting and assessment.

The German Federal Nature Conservation Agency (BfN) is Germany’s central scientific authority for both national and international nature conservation. The Agency reports to the German Environment Ministry (BMU) and has key enforcement functions under international species conservation agreements, marine conservation law, the Antarctic Treaty and the German Genetic Engineering Act.
