Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with two connected six-membered rings
Naphthalene is a commen PAH. Besides its involuntary production through incomplete combustion it was used as main ingredient for moth balls, although its potential as insecticide was rather small.
Naphthalene is one of 16 PAHs which were included in the list of Priority Pollutants by the U.S. EPA (EPA-list).
